Auditor General Schools Report

The province’s auditor general says Nova Scotia needs to improve its system for building new or renovating old schools. Kim Adair says the capital planning system from 2019 was done when the school system’s population was stable, but now there is a rapid growth in the student population. Over the last decade, there has been a 13 per cent increase in province-wide enrolment and a 24 per cent increase at the Halifax Regional Centre for Education.
