Development of the Blockhouse Hill property has been paused. The national broadcaster reports that the Lunenburg Town Council reversed a decision to declare the land surplus to build 250 single-family and townhomes. The town has decided that its electrical grid is at capacity, and before it can build more homes, the electrical system must be brought up to “this century,” according to Mayor Jamie Myra. Myra told the national broadcaster that there is still a possibility the land could be developed in the future, but declaring the land surplus means the process would have to start again.
