The province has adopted the Built Environment Accessibility Standard on the way to an accessible Nova Scotia by 2030. The standards focus on rules for outdoor and recreational spaces that will be required for new infrastructure starting April 1, 2026. The standards provide better parking options, easier access to eating areas and benches in parks and accessible lockers.
