Nova Scotia Health is facing a class-action lawsuit after an employee inappropriately accessed the personal health information of nearly 2,700 patients at St. Martha’s hospital. The lawsuit was filed by Wagners Law Firm in Halifax, and they have already heard from 159 patients. Lawyer Maddy Carter stated that people feel their trust in the healthcare system has been eroded and are concerned about how their information may be used. Nova Scotia Health declined to comment, and the case will proceed to a trial if certified.
