Lunenburg West MLA Becky Druhan says the pre-budget consultations should be met with healthy skepticism, not applause. Druhan says when revenues were strong, Premier Tim Houston did not ask for Nova Scotians advice, but now that there’s a deficit and cuts to services Houston is asking for advice on how to fix the problems he created. Druhan notes that the Premier is not showing up to hear from Nova Scotians himself, instead sending a committee of volunteers, which is missing the sectors that have been calling on the government to listen.
