Firefighting School

The province is cutting ties with the Nova Scotia Firefighters School. That, after an audit showed a breakdown in safety accountability, inadequate governance and oversight of the executive director and a loss of confidence among firefighters.  The province’s Minister of Emergency Management says the results of the audit are appalling and the province will set up an interim plan for training firefighters. The goal is to have the interim training available by fall. The audit was ordered after the preventable death of a firefighter during a training exercise in 2019.
