Liverpool man charged with personating a police officer and stealing a dump truck

A Liverpool man faces several charges after a couple of incidents over the span of a week. The first incident was when he tried to gain access to the Cookville RCMP Detachment. Police say he approached an officer outside the detachment, claiming to be an RCMP sergeant transferred from another province. The officer confirmed no one had recently transferred to the detachment and no one was expected at the detachment that day other than officers reporting for duty. The man was safely arrested for personating a police officer and breach of recognizance. He was released from custody on conditions. Then, on January 1st, police were called for a report of a stolen truck. Police learned a person had entered a garage on Devonshire Road in West Caledonia and taken a dump truck. While on their way to the call police spotted the vehicle on Highway 3 in Liverpool. The investigation has revealed that the suspect entered the garage on December 31st, slept overnight, and then took the truck. 43-year-old Christopher Allan MacLeod faces charges of Break and Enter with Intent, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and two counts of Fail to Comply with Order. He has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance in February.
