Lunenburg Mayor admonishes people for treatment of power crews

Mayor Jamie Myra addressed the treatment of electrical crews and linemen during last weekend’s power outage. Myra made his comments at the beginning of the council meeting on Tuesday night. Myra said he understands the frustration that goes along with a power outage, especially in the cold winter months. But he says there is “absolutely no excuse for directing abuse towards the power workers.” He says the front-line crews out doing their jobs are not responsible for corporate decisions, budgets or long-term infrastructure planning. He says they are the people who work long hours in harsh weather, away from their families, trying to help others. He called the harassment of utility workers deeply disappointing.
