Some updates to the Edgewater construction project in Mahone Bay. Old asphalt is being removed from Parish Street to the Cenotaph. Crews discovered some poor-quality material beneath the surface and will replace it with modern materials before putting down new asphalt. Curb and sidewalk work will begin next week. Paving in this section should happen the week of August 18, but only after the curb and sidewalk work is finished. On Clearland Street to Old Edgewater. the road closure here has been extended by about three weeks. The detour is working well, and the contractor expects this section to be done by August 15, though some work may carry over into the week of August 18. A delay by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) in issuing a permit required a road closure and detour to maintain progress.
