Mahone Bay Council passed two motions regarding sidewalk patios at its meeting last week. The first motion was to apply the new Nova Scotia Built Environment Accessibility Standards to any new sidewalk patio applications as of July 31st. The second motion was to write a letter to the owners of 538 Main Street, encouraging adjustments to the patio to align with the new standards. A staff report about updates to the 2008 Streets and Sidewalks Bylaw is expected at the September Council meeting. Council has said that until these actions are finished, they will not be pursuing the matter further.
