Mahone Bay voters head to the polls to replace two empty Council seats

The nomination period for candidates seeking election in Mahone Bay has been extended. That’s because there are now two vacancies to be filled, now that Councillor Rebecca Twanow has also resigned. Late last year, Deputy Mayor Colin Kingsmill resigned for personal reasons. In a statement to Go Rock, Mayor Suzanne Lohnes-Croft says much of the work done by councillors requires countless meetings, extensive reading, research and a commitment to being accessible and available.  She expressed her appreciation to both councillors and wished them the best, while calling on other residents who feel “called to serve their community” to put their name forward. Nominations are open until the 20th, with election day being held on February 14th.
