Canadian officials are in close contact with Mexican authorities after violence erupted over the weekend. Violence broke out in the western Mexican state of Hah-liss-koh near the popular resort city of Puerto Valllarta, after the a Mexican army raid killed the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Car fires, road blockades and shootouts erupted shortly after. Canadian travellers have been told to shelter in place and airlines have cancelled or diverted dozens of flights from the area.
