According to the online charity platform, Canada Helps, Nova Scotia leads the country in online charitable giving. Since 2019 charitable giving in the province has surged 168 per cent, and last year was 58 per cent higher than the national average, beating out larger provinces like Ontario and Quebec. While causes closer to home are seeing a surge in donations, the three top charities remain environmental, animal and social services. Seniors and wealthy families continue to lead in the demographics that give the most.
