Nova Scotians invited to build their own provincial budget

The province is planning to open up the provincial budget process to Nova Scotians. Premier Tim Houston says people need to talk about the challenges facing the province along with future opportunities. People can create and submit the 2027-28 budget they want to see online. Budgets for all departments, with the exception of health, can be increased or decreased by five per cent. To help the budget building, Nova Scotians will have the option to attend an in-person or virtual facilitated session this fall where they can learn about the budgeting process and the Province’s financial position. An independent advisory committee will be at the sessions and report back to the government what they hear.
