Population Loss

It seems the population boom brought on by the COVID pandemic in Atlantic Canada is over. Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island saw a decline in residents at the end of last year. The pandemic in 2020 saw an influx of new residents because of the rise in remote work and cheaper housing prices. During the pandemic Nova Scotia added 100,000 new residents but 1,400 of those new residents left in the fourth quarter of 2025.
