Price of fresh vegetables soared in March, inflation up slightly

The price of fresh vegetables saw the largest price increase in almost three years. StatsCan says Canada’s inflation rate ticked up slightly to 2.4 percent in March. The agency says the slight increase from February is largely due to higher fuel prices caused by the war in Iran and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The price of fresh vegetables rose 7.8 per cent in March, with peppers, cucumbers and celery seeing the highest spike because of poor growing conditions.
