Progress Moving Individuals with Disabilities Out of Institutions

The Nova Scotia government is making progress toward moving all individuals with disabilities out of institutions by 2028. A recent court case highlighted systemic discrimination against these individuals in accessing housing and support. Officials report that there are now 301 fewer people living in residential care and rehabilitation facilities. Lunenburg MLA and Minister of Opportunities and Social Development Susan Corkum Greek is optimistic that the remaining 559 individuals will find alternative housing within the next two years.
