RCMP Commissioner apologizes for officer training session in Debert

The Commissioner of the RCMP has apologized for sending officers to train near Debert. The training exercise was carried out as residents were preparing to mark the sixth anniversary of Canada’s worst mass shooting. In the letter sent to MP Alana Hirtle, Commissioner Mike Duhem said the exercises caused harm and trauma to residents. Nova Scotia is mourning the deaths of 22 people after a man disguised as an RCMP officer went on a shooting rampage that lasted thirteen hours.
