Nova Scotia will get more than $3.4 billion dollars in equalization payments from the federal government this year. That’s an increase of about $100,000 from last year. The province will also see an increase in the Canada Health Transfer and Canada Social Transfer. In total, the feds will pay out more than $26 billion dollars in equalization payments to the province with more than half going to Quebec. The provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C will not get any money.
