Wildfire Update Aug 28th

Nova Scotia firefighters battling wildfires in the province, specifically the Long Lake fire, are getting a bit of a rest. Jim Rudderham of the Department of Natural Resources says a 20-person crew and a management team from Ontario arrived in the province yesterday. Rudderham says this is a normal procedure. He says the rain received over the weekend was not enough for officials “to even think about lifting restrictions or bans right now.”  He says they know with the current conditions in the area of the fire, the Long Lake fire will take a while to be brought under control. It is now 82 kilometres in size and remains out of control.
