Wildfires Update

A state of emergency remains in effect in Annapolis County as the Long Lake wildfire burns out of control. The fire, fuelled by hot, dry weather, has doubled in size since Friday and is now over  20 square kilometres and moving toward West Dalhousie Road. Officials believe a lightning strike caused the fire. The Department of Natural Resources is down one helicopter after one crashed into the lake Friday afternoon. The pilot was conscious and talking to emergency crews when they found him. He is recovering.
