Nova Scotia has led the way on removing barriers on interprovincial trade for domestic products.Ontario and P.E.I have also introduced legislation that allows for the recognition of goods, services and labour between the three provinces. The Nova Scotia government says other provinces are looking to do the same thing as a way to become less dependent on the U.S. as a trading partner. Premier Tim Houston says all 13 provinces and territories will likely move at different speeds but he believes all Canadians recognize the need to break down the barriers. Ontario signed memorandums of understanding with the two Atlantic provinces agreeing that products, services or registered workers recognized in one province are acceptable in the others.
